About Me
Stories are my life. Telling them. Reading them. Sharing them. I love stories because they let you be a part of worlds only limited by the scope of your imagination. It's the most affordable way to travel.
SPEAK OF ME AS I AM, my first novel, was released by Philomel Books/Penguin Random House in April 2017. You can read more about that here. I also write queer romance as Natasha Washington. My debut romance, CALLING CALLING CALLING ME, a San Francisco-based queer new adult romance, came out in September 2018. I am also the author of a queer romance series about a group of teachers in LA, which began with TEACH ME TONIGHT (October 2020), and continues with TEMPT ME TONIGHT (February 2022).
I currently work as a freelance writer, editor, and research assistant with a diverse range of clients that include fiction writers, professors, students, non-profits, and other folks looking to get a long-form writing project off the ground. I have a background in social work, and my writing consulting philosophy is firmly situated in the idea of coming to people where they are. My ultimate goal is to secure a position as an academic librarian. In all my work, I strive for maximum accessibility, creativity, and connection.
Other things I love: TV shows about high school, baking, travel, mysteries where everyone is very British. Hip-hop of all types and flavors. Kpop. Photography. Going to concerts or live theater. Putting on a show.
I'm a native of Washington, D.C. (the city proper!), but haven’t called it home for a long time. I currently reside in Philadelphia, PA in a witchy old house filled with cats and the smells of cooking.
